Show Boat (1951)

Remake of the classic Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein musical about life on a Mississippi riverboat. Tihs movie follows the eventful journey of two loves: firstly between the Captain's daughter and an itinerant riverboat gambler. The second between a mulatta who's trying to pass as white and her Caucasian husband. This was against Southern laws at the time forbidding mixed-race marriages.
